Mumbai: Centenary celebrations of late Admiral Jal Cursetji shall be held on May 20 at the INHS Asvini Auditorium. Late Admiral Jal Cursetji was the Chief of the Naval Staff from March 1976 to Feb 1979. He is often known as the Father of Indian Naval Hydrography and has also been instrumental in the transfer of the Maritime Reconnaissance responsibilities from the Indian Air Force to the Indian Navy in 1978.

The Navy, as we know today stands on the foundations laid by stalwarts of its early years and Admiral Jal Cursetji stands tall amongst those who shaped the Indian Navy into the powerful and balanced force that it is today.
