Mumbai : When media magnate Peter Mukherjea is produced in the court on Monday, the CBI officials will try very hard to get his remand extended, which expires on November 23.The agency wants to ferret out details of his financial dealings which could have linkages to his step daughter Sheena’s murder.

The CBI is simultaneously focusing on his son Rahul who has given the agency details about the volatile relationship between his live-in partner Sheena Bora and her mother Indrani, Peter Mukherjea’s wife.  The CBI had asked Rahul to hand over to the agency certain documents – including Sheena’s birth certificate — which purportedly establish that the murder victim was ‘blackmailing’ her mother. At the heart of the blackmail, sources said, was the threat that if Indrani did not give Sheena a 3 BHK flat in the city, the latter would expose the former by revealing that she was Indrani’s daughter and not sister.

Some of these documents are already in the agency’s possession and may be furnished in the court when the CBI presses for extension of Peter’s remand. Rahul has already handed to the police over certain audio clips which could be incrimina-ting for Peter.Rahul, who on Sunday visited his father at the CBI special task force office here, however, continued to assert that his father had been wrongly accused. “My father is innocent, “he told media persons before entering the CBI office. ‘‘Yes, I am being questioned but there isn’t any confrontation between me and my father. I don’t want to compromise on the investigation and I will make a statement at the right time,” Rahul added. He stayed at the CBI office for about an hour and returned again in the afternoon, according to officials. The CBI — which is convinced that “Rahul Mukerjea is an important link in the murder,’’ — meanwhile, continued to grill his father. Input .
