Car thief active in ‘90s arrested after NBW

Mumbai: Mumbai Crime Branch unite 9 has arrested a 68-year-old well know car thief who was active in 90s he was identified as Yashwant Hari Shigwan resident of Malad. Shigwan was a well know car thief with 30 cases registered against him. He was so expert in car thefts that it merely takes few minutes for Shigwan to steal a car. In fact, in the nineties one key used to be used to start a car and the same key was used for the doors and the fuel tank.

Shigwan used to smoothly dismantle the fuel tank lock and he would make duplicate keys with the help of this lock. With the duplicate keys he would steal cars. It was believed that Shigwan stole cars on orders which he would get even from outside the state. He was arrested on many occasions but he never attended the court hearing after which the court issued a non bailable warrant against him. He was arrested from Juhu, where he was working as a driver.
