Mumbai : The plot allotted to actress Hema Malini for her dance academy should be cancelled on immediate basis by the BJP led government otherwise Congress will approach court, said Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam on Thursday. The actress-turned-politician has already violated the CRZ rules on the earlier plot allotted to her and accordingly FIR should be filed against her, Congress demanded.

In 1997, the then BJP-led government had allotted a plot in Versova to BJP MP Hema Malini but she could not develop it as it came under the Coastal Regulation Zone. But it is reported that the actress still holds the plot and has not yet returned it to the government. “As the actress has violated the CRZ norms by destroying the mangroves on the earlier plot, a FIR should be filed against her with relevant sections, but the BJP led government is not doing anything”. “If a person is already holding a plot, how can another plot be allotted to her”, questioned Nirupam.

The BJP needs to review the norms for the plot allotment. The actress is a defaulter and the BJP are allotting plots to their favourite people, Nirupam alleged. A letter stating the violation of the CRZ norms was given to Hema Malini by Zilla Adhikari in 1998, but the actress did not respond to it at all, he said. Hema cannot dictate terms, added Nirupam.

Hema Malini a veteran actress and a BJP MP in December was allotted a plot of 2000 sq meters in Oshiwara, Andheri for he dance academy reportedly for Rs 70,000 only. But the plot originally costs around 70,000 crore Rupees alleged RTI activists Anil Gadgil recently. Since then, Hema is facing heat from the opposition. The actress had applied to the government in 1994 for a land to develop a dance academy for under privileged children.
