Kalyan: The Mumbai High Court has directed the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) Commissioner to take the final decision regarding the controversial promotion of Neelam Kadam as Deputy Account Chief post of UMC directly from her initial clerk post. Kadam is the daughter of senior Shiv Sena leader from the city and her uncle is also the senior corporator in UMC.
Last month, after UMC gave Kadam direct promotion from clerk to the Deputy Account Chief's post, several people including Maharashtra Navnirman Sena workers and Dr Yuvraj Bhadane who is the Deputy Municipal Commissioner of UMC raised objection over Kadam's promotion claiming that promotion from the clerk post which comes in the fourth grade employees directly to second grade official rank is illegal.
Over the same issue, Dr Bhadane later even moved HC against Kadam's promotion claiming that the promotion given to her was illegal and even the signatures of the promotion Committee including that of Bhadane himself and former commissioner Rajendra Nimbalkar were forged.
Acting on Bhadane's plea, the joint batch of HC led by judge Bharti Dangare and Ranjit More recently passed court order on June 3 in which they disposed off the petition by directing commissioner to take decision in this matter within six weeks that too in accordance with the law.
