MUMBAI: The Bombay Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) presented its 2013-14 Budget in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation House on Thursday and the BMC sanctioned the Rs 6,514 crore Budget. The increase in private vehicles in the city has hit the BEST service hard for the past three years. The issues like separate lanes for BEST buses, a body wherein citizens can complain about the delay in electricity bills were discussed threadbare at the session. Corporations expressed that BEST has been facing competition over supply of electricity from Tattoo and Reliance and this has made matters worse for the undertaking. BJP corporator Viand Sheller said that in order to keep the BEST alive in this context, various measures need to be taken. The BEST will, in all probability, increase its ticket fare by Rs 1 from April 1.
