The victim, Nandabai Bhalreao, was picking rags in Chikhalthana industrial area

Aurangabad : A woman was killed in a blast while picking industrial rag in Chikalthana industrial estate on Thursday at 11.45 am. Security agencies have denied sabotage calling the incident as an accident.

The victim has been identified as Nandabai Kaduba Bhalreao (30, Misarwadi). Her body was severely damaged in the explosion which shocked the area Thursday afternoon. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II), Arvind Chivrai, said that the lady picked up some rags from the heap of waste and hardly might have walked 5-10 steps towards the road when unidentified stuff exploded tossing her into the air. The area and the road was virtually deserted but a cyclist saw the incident from a few yards and fainted after seeing the lady literally torn into pieces.

Police Inspector Nirmala Pardeshi said that information of incident was passed on to the control room and the MIDC CIDCO police station. Police reached the spot on getting the information and cordoned off the area fearing another blast.

The body was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where formality of declaring her dead was completed. A case of accidental death has been registered and PI Pardeshi is investigating the case.
