Mumbai : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday recorded the statement of NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal’s nephew Sameer in connection with the Maharashtra Sadan scam. The statement was recorded by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that has been set up by the ACB under the High Court’s orders. The ACB has now summoned Bhujbal’s son Pankaj on Saturday to record his statement.

The Director General of Maharashtra ACB, Praveen Dixit said the probe is on but refused to comment on the status of the investigation, saying that it’s too early.

An officer from the ACB, on condition of anonymity, said that Sameer’s statement was recorded for half a day and that he will be back to record more of it on Monday. The ACB has also been told by the High Court to submit a report regarding the overall status of the investigation in the said scam on Feb 28.

The ACB is currently conducting the open inquiry against Bhujbal after it was alleged that there was corruption and favouritism involved in the construction of Maharashtra Sadan, that was inaugurated in 2013 and two other buildings in Mumbai – all of which were built under a Public Private Partnership (PPP).
