Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Wednesday extended the pre-arrest relief of Dalit scholar Anand Teltumbde, till March 12. This means, the Pune Police, which is investigating the Bhima-Koregaon violence case, cannot arrest Teltumbde, one of the several human rights’ activists, till March 12.

A single-judge bench of Justice Nitin Sambre extended the pre-arrest relief of Teltumbde while hearing his application for anticipatory bail. Teltumbde had moved the HC, in the first week of February, after he was ‘illegally arrested and later released’ by the Pune police.

He was released after a sessions court declared his arrest illegal, in view of the ‘relief’ granted to him by the Supreme Court. The apex court had asked the police not to arrest Teltumbde at least till February 11, so as to enable him to seek relief from a competent court.
