Mumbai : The Bhandup Police are on the lookout for a man accused of brutally murdering his 30-year old wife. The deceased, Bharati Kiran Chavan was found dead at her house in a chawl in the Farid Nagar area of Bhandup (West).
The woman stayed with her husband, son and mother-in-law and the police suspect that the murder was a result of an argument between the husband and the wife.
The incident came to light when other family members found the door of the house ajar and went in to enquire.
They found the body in a metal drum on the mezzanine floor of the house.
“Initial investigations revealed that the husband, Harish Ramdhan Rathod (34), who is absconding, is involved. We are looking for him,” said a police officer from Bhandup police station. The husband reportedly plays drums at events for a living.
“The victim was attacked with a sharp weapon and sustained grievous injuries to her neck and cheek. We have reasons to believe they were arguing about an illicit relationship. We are investigating all angles,” he added.
