Bhandara: A Bhandara man was killed by his bride-to-be and her lover on the eve of their wedding, May 5, police have said. A day prior to their marriage, the bridegroom was stabbed to death and his body was dumped in a forest near Koylari village in Gondia. Vinod Kumbhare, 26, who lived in Yerli village, Tumsar taluka was to wed Reena Madavi, 23, from Koylari village, Tiroda taluka in Gondia.
However, Reena was in love with Prafulla Parateti, 26, a man from her village. Despite knowing this, her parents arranged a match with Kumbhare. A defiant Reena was unwilling to do so and accordingly, a day before the marriage, asked Kumbhare to meet her at a place outside Yerli village. No sooner did Kumbhare arrive, Reena and Prafulla, who were waiting, stabbed him in the stomach and dumped his body in the jungle.
Police enquiries revealed Reena’s ties with Prafulla. The couple was taken into custody and during interrogation, they confessed to the crime. They admitted being in love and said Kumbhare was an obstacle. The duo was arrested. Tumsar Police are investigating if there were others involved in this murder.
Kumbhare worked at a private company and both he and his younger brother were to be married on May 6. On the evening of May 5, he left home for some work and never returned. The next day, his body was found in the jungle, with stab wounds and a knife beside him. However, there were no bloodstains on the knife.
