Mumbai: At a time when city is witnessing one of the longest ever bus strike, Shiv Sena minister of industries, Subhash Desai, the ruling party in the BMC, is busy revamping his cabin in Mantralaya. Interestingly, Desai is Mumbai’s guardian minister. Minorities Commission chief Haji Arafat Shaikh, has alleged, “This minister should be addressing the pertinent issues related to Mumbai’s residents, but he is more worried about why the minister for minorities commission has a big cabin.”

Sena, has been ruling the BMC and BEST since last 30 years and after extending support to the strike on the first day, the very next day Sena workers’ union backed out promptly. They have come under flak from all quarters for letting down the BEST workers who have not been paid their salaries and bonuses. Shaikh was previously a Sainik and leader of Vahatuk Sena, a union of the party. Shaikh has now joined the BJP and is made the chief of minorities commission and the deputy post was given to J M Abhyankar, who is a close aide of Desai, Sena minister.

Since last few days, instead of being worried of the losses caused due to the seven-day bus strike, Abhyankar and Desai are worried why the deputy has a smaller cabin than that of the chief of minorities commission. Desai wanted to ascertain for himself and is said to have personally visited the office of the commission.
