BEST and the Union sign Memorandum Of Understanding

A Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST), recognised unions and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in BEST Bhavan on Thursday evening.

MUMBAI: A Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST), recognised unions and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in BEST Bhavan on Thursday evening. The points which were mentioned in the MoU were all 3,337 buses will be kept under BEST and if any bus goes out for scrap, then a new bus will be replaced by the old one by BMC. The BMC will financially help BEST for improving its operational cost and to repay the debt. BEST will buy new buses on wet leasing process.

BEST union leader Shashank Rao said, “this MoU is in favour and betterment for BEST workers as well as for Mumbaikars. In today’s agreement, important and main demand of the BEST workers were approved.” The rest of the agreements which are pending will be signed after further meetings which will be held soon. The 10% hike to BEST employees who had joined the service after April 2007, will be cleared in their May salary which they will get it before June 15. The dues such as gratutiy, etc of the retired employees will also be cleared before September 2019.

Secondly, dues of the employees who will be retiring this year, will be cleared without any delay. An agreement was signed among the BEST administration and the BEST Sanyukt Kamgar Kruti Samiti, a joint action committee of BEST unions, the betterment of the employees. Shashank Rao, the union president and Surendra Kumar Badge, BEST GM were present for the signing of the MoU. Now after the MoU, BEST will get Rs 100 crore every month for improving its trAnsport wing from BMC. The union will withdraw this case against the BEST.
