Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appealed the Ganeshotsav Mandals to be more alert and cautious regarding safety and security during forthcoming Ganesh Festival. The dates of major festivals like Dahi Handi and Ganeshotsav are clashing with that of the Simhastha Kumbha Mela at Nashik. This has increased the stress on police, Fadnavis said at a review meeting at the Sahyadri state guest house here on Monday. He took stock of the preparations regarding Ganpati festival at the meeting. Fadnavis appealed the mandals to abide by restrictions imposed by the court. The administration and the federation of Ganesh Mandals should work in tandem, Chief Minister said and expressed satisfaction over the preparations.

Fadnavis said that the Girgaum chowpati would be equipped with 18 CCTV cameras before Ganesh festival. He also suggested that municipal corporations should act in accordance with the directives given by the high court to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Coproration. Chief Minister also said that people should try to avoid polluting water resources during the festivals and added that a meeting with Union Environment Minister is being organised to discuss the Ganesh festival in Mumbai. Fadnavis also directed the Ganeshotsav Mandal members to help administration to fill potholes created while erecting pandals on roads and asked them to ensure safety and security and cooperate with police officials to avoid any unpleasant incident. He also directed the power department to ensure minimum load-shedding during the festive period. Some Mandals declared that they would donate to the CM’s relief fund keeping in view the drought situation across the state.
