Aurangabad : An Indian Army Jawan has been booked on the charge of repeatedly raping a 24-year-old housewife during the last two years.

The jawan accused of sexually assaulting the woman has been identified as Ashok Maruti Jadhav (37) and was posted in the Army Canteen, an outlet run by the army at concessional rates.
According to sources, the victim, a mother of a 3-year-old son, had gone to the Canteen to buy a pressure cooker around 2 years ago, but it wasn’t available then. So Ashok Jadhav, a soldier by designation, sought her mobile phone number on the assurance of informing her about the availability of the cooker as soon as the new stock is received. The gullible woman shared her mobile phone number with him hoping that he will call only after the cooker is available in the Canteen. But Jadhav dialled her number many times, developed intimacy with her and one day reached her house soon after their introduction when her husband had gone to work.
He then locked the house from inside and committed the heinous crime and threatened to kill her son and husband, if she informed anybody about it. This continued almost for two years during which he also borrowed her gold jewellery weighing four tolas. On pestering for the jewellery, he handed her over the fake jewellery. Fed up with sexual exploitation and mental harassment, the victim approached the Cidco police station and lodged a complaint against him.
A case has been registered.
The inspector of the police station, Shiva Thakare, said that now Jadhav has been transferred from Aurangabad to Dhule and Army authorities at Aurangabad have been informed about the matter.
They will conduct the court martial of the accused before taking necessary action, following which we will arrest him, PI Thakare added.
