Mumbai, May 8 (ANI): Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh on Friday claimed that the decision by the Bombay High Court to suspend Salman Khan’s sentence in the 2002 hit-and-run case has proved that the rich and the poor do not stand as equal for the judiciary.

“The decision of the court proves that the poor have not got justice. The defence lawyers have advocated a strategy of appealing from lower to upper courts to buy time for the rich at the behest of the lives of the poor. What had happened a day back had brought hope for the people that any person, no matter how big or small is equal before law. But the recent judgement has proved it otherwise,” Satyapal Singh said.

Earlier in the day, the Bombay High Court granted bail to Salman and suspended his five-year sentence in the case. With this ruling, the actor will not be taken to jail. However, he will first have to go to the Sessions Court in order to execute a fresh bail bond because his two-day interim bail ends today.
