Bhayandar : It was a heroic moment for a police sub-inspector attached to the Bhayandar police station who nabbed a notorious bag snatcher on the run after the miscreant robbed a 36-year-old woman on Sunday night. A bike borne-thief snatched the purse of the 36-year-old Priyanka Shah near her house in the Vraj Manek Nagar area of Bhayandar (West) at about 8pm on Sunday. 

Fortunately for her, on-duty Police Sub-Inspector Pramod Kadam happened to be present near the spot where the crime was being committed. Kadam swung into action and after a hot chase, managed to nab the biker near the police station.
The accused identified as-Abdul Sheikh (19) was found to be in possession of the bag which had Rs16,000 cash and a mobile phone. After catching the culprit, Kadam informed Shah who rushed to the police station and expressed her gratitude to the cop for his alertness and presence of mind. Sheikh, who has been arrested and booked under section 392 of the IPC, is said to be involved in similar offences committed by him under the jurisdiction of the Mira Road and Navghar police stations. Further investigations are on.
