Mumbai : Advocate general of the state Sunil Manohar resigned on Thursday citing personal reason. The state cabinet at its meeting on Tuesday accepted Manohar’s resignation. The cabinet decided to give a temporary charge to the additional solicitor general Anil Singh till new appointment is made.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “The advocate general (Manohar) has resigned for personal reasons. He continues to be a special counsel of the Government of Maharashtra. The charge of AG has been handed over to ASG of the Government of India, Advocate Anil Singh.”
Manohar was not available for comment. Manohar’s resignation comes a day after the state Anti Corruption Bureau filed first information report (FIR) against former public works minister Chhagan Bhujbal and five others for allegedly leasing out a piece of government land to a private real estate company for 99 years for a meagre sum.
An eminent lawyer, Manohar, hails from Nagpur and was appointed as the state advocate general on November 18. Manohar was personally picked up by Fadnavis.
