Navi Mumbai : A long-standing demand of local commuters will be met on Independence Day when the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) starts AC Volvo bus services to the international and domestic airports.
Bus no. 104 from Jalvayu Vihar in Kharghar to the domestic airport via Sion and BKC will charge Rs 115. To begin with, it will have 10 services. Bus no. 101 will go from Jalvayu Vihar to the international airport via the SCLR.
So far, NMMT has acquired 50 new Volvo buses under the JNNURM scheme and 30 of them will roll out on I-Day.
Another Volvo route will be from Vashi station to Mulund and Thane stations. APMC to Lokhandwala is another route.
Other services will include two ring routes in the TTC-MIDC area. Eventually, NMMC has plans to go up to South Mumbai.
