Mumbai: Countdown for the forthcoming assembly election for the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has started, as the party leadership has asked their workers to work hard for next 90 days. The NCP has asked its leaders and workers to focus on scams and failures of the Fadnavis government.
“Do not get discouraged by Lok Sabha results, voters think differently for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Do not waste time in discussing EVM issue. Focus on bringing Congress alliance into power,” senior leader and former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar told NCP workers. He was speaking at the 20th foundation of party. Pawar also denounced the possibility of NCP’s merger into Congress.
“We exposed scams of the Devendra Fadnavis government, but Chief Minister Fadnavis issued clean chits for tainted ministers. The state government has poorly performed on job creation front and cheated Maratha, Dhangars on reservation issue. These failures of the Fadnavis government should be highlighted among people,” Pawar stressed.
NCP state president and former finance minister Jayant Patil has appealed to the workers to work tirelessly for the next 90 days to ensure the defeat of the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance govt.
“This government has created Tanker lobby and we should expose this. Instead of getting discouraged after the defeat in the Lok Sabha election, we should focus on the Assembly seats in our quota,” Patil added.
The Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Dhananjay Munde, too, tried to encourage the party leaders to work hard in the next 90 days. “In the 20 years of the NCP’s existence, we were in power for 15 years in state and for 10 years at the Centre. The BJP had been in opposition over the last 40 years and now they are in power,” Munde said.
