Aurangabad: In a startling revelation, it has come to light that a six-year-old boy was repeatedly branded with hot iron rod by his father in Samata Nagar slum area of the city.
According to details, Manayk (name changed) was visibly upset and in chronic mental and physical pain for last few days. His neighbours were able to understand his helplessness over the pain and informed members of the Child and Women Welfare Committee about it, following which some women members reached the area. They found three to four burn brands on both of his palms. The child has been referred to a city orphanage.
According to the police inspector with the Kranti Chowk police station, Mayank’s mother died a few years ago, following which his father put him in an orphanage. The father later married a widow having a daughter. Meantime, a daughter was born to the couple last year.
Moreover, Mayank was brought home by his father after the orphanage authorities informed him about the boy’s unwillingness to continue there.
But Mayank’s plight did not end even after returning home as his stepmother too started abusing and torturing him. A few days ago, Mayank’s father too joined his wife; they thrashed the boy and branded him with a hot iron rod. Now, the boy is undergoing treatment and has been put again in the orphanage.
