Bhayandar : In a joint operation, officials from the District Labour Department, Thane, led by Labour Officer, Gopal Patil, along with the Valiv police raided some small establishments in Vasai region and rescued five minor children, who were made to work in utmost inhuman conditions.

According to the police, surprise raids were carried out at Shiv Sai Auto Garage and National Hotel in the Valiv village area of Vasai on Thursday afternoon. While a 12-year-old boy was rescued from the garage, four minor kids were rescued from the hotel, the police said. All the children have been sent to the Child Rehabilitation Centre in Bhiwandi.

A case under the relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice Act and the Labour Act has been registered against the employers. Further investigations are on.
