Mumbai : The police on Wednesday morning arrested five people in connection with the murder of a local Shiv Sena leader, Ramesh Jadhav: they had hacked him at his residence in Gangaram chawl in Kot Dongri, Dindoshi, with choppers.

The killing took place on Tuesday evening; the five accused are Sohail Ansari, Imran Sazida, Gullu Sazida, Yusuf Sazida and a minor, all residents of Dindoshi.

According to other members of Shiv Sena, Jadhav and the accused had been having altercations over various matters for a long time now. Things apparently took a turn for the worse on Tuesday. The police was trying to piece together the sequence of these events.

“Almost for a year there was tension between Jadhav and the accused as he used to oppose them whenever they created a ruckus in the locality.
