Pimpri Chinchwad: Forty days after burglary at a jewellery shop in Pune, police have cracked down on the case. A highly educated youth, Anil alias Chhotu Dhayal, a Haryana youth who would crack competitive exams, is involved in the incident, according to Wakad Police. On March 6, 2019, Punekar Jewellers at Thergaon was looted at gunpoint. A bullet was fired on the foot of Divyank Mehta, the owner of the store, for resisting the attempt. However, the mastermind Anil and four others are still absconding.Under sustained interrogation, Subhash revealed the motive of the robbery. In 2013, Anil was ready to leave for Australia for further studies. His student’s visa too was ready. Around this time, he and his friend Suresh had an altercation with the gang of Sandeep Chahar alias Sethi. Suresh was killed in the process.

Anil and his friends swore to avenge Suresh’s murder. Before embarking on this mission, Anil tore up his Australian visa. While in pursuit of Sethi, Anil encountered Sethi’s friend, Kishori Jat, and killed him. For this murder, Anil was sentenced to four years in jail. After being released from jail in 2017, he began to plot Sethi’s murder. Realising he needed funds to execute his scheme, he and his friends burgled the jewellery store. When the police cracked the burglary case, they learnt of the murder conspiracy.
