Aurangabad : Police on Tuesday arrested a gang of three youths who raped a 15-year-old school girl at her home when her parents were away.

 The incident took place on Saturday night at Erandi village in Ausa tehsil of Latur district.

Based on a complaint lodged by the girl, police registered a case on Monday and arrested the culprits Somnath Bali Gore (23), Vikas Dattu Kadam (20) and Gautam Namdev Lokhande (27), all residents of the same village.

The deputy superintendent of police (Dy SP), Ashwini Shelar, said that on Saturday, the parents of the girl had gone out of station and she and her brother were at home.

At night, her brother got a call from one of the culprits who asked him to come out. As soon as he left the house, the other two culprits barged into the house

and sexually assaulted the girl.

According to police, they face rape charges while the third culprit faces charge of abetting the rape.

The girl is under observation by doctors at the civil hospital in Latur.

 Local social and women’s organisations have condemned the incident.
