Mumbai: In three separate incidents, two women suffering from depression and an unidentified man allegedly committed suicide in the city. In the first case which took place two days ago but was reported only on Monday at Kherwadi police station, a 29-year-old man, Kunal Ambvankar, who used to work as a cleaner in Guru Nanak hospital in Bandra, east, hanged himself at his residence in Siddharth Nagar, Kherwadi. Ambvankar’s neighbours alerted the police after a foul smell started emanating from his house.

In the second incident, a 32-year-old woman, Ekta Babbar jumped from her sixteenth floor flat in Green Acres building in Lokhandwala. Babbar used to run a firm, Talent Search, which used to provide actors to producers. “She was staying with her mother and she was in depression due to her father’s death six months ago,” said Senior Police Inspector Subhash Vele of the Oshiwara Police station. Babbar jumped from her flat between 11.30-11.45 pm on Sunday.

In the third case, a 44-year-old woman, Bina Vajrani, jumped from her cousin, Sunil Naryani’s sixth floor flat in Oceanic building at Warden Road at Breach Candy at 2.30 am on Monday. According to her father, Gulabrai Vajrani (90), Bina was under severe stress for the past seven to eight years. Police do not suspect any foul play in the three suicides.
