Bhayandar : Bhayandar police have arrested three men, including a prominent wholesaler of fish, in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old man.

Police view the incident as a case of honour killing.

The body of the victim Ganesh Sudarshan (35) allegedly dumped by the trio in the Bhayandar creek on Saturday is yet to be recovered.

According to police, they were informed of the murder of Sudarshan by his employer Rajesh Koli and his two accomplices.  Based on information and witnesses’ accounts, police detained Koli and his accomplices Pappu Thorat and Rajendra.

A resident of Murdha village near Bhayandar, Koli is engaged in fish trade and his victim Ganesh was employed as a helper with him. A native of Orrisa, Ganesh was reportedly having an affair with Koli’s sister.

After learning about the relationship, Koli warned Ganesh to stay away from his sister, however when Ganesh failed to relent an irate Koli along with Pappu and Rajendra brutally assaulted him with swords on Saturday night. The trio then tied huge stones to the body and dumped it into the nearby creek.

“Koli has confessed to the crime and a search was on to recover the body.” confirmed Sr PI, Bhaskar Pukle. A case under sections 302 (Murder) and 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the trio.
