Bhayandar : Sleuths of the Anti-Human Trafficking unit of the Thane (rural) police busted yet another high-profile sex racket in Mira Road late on Thursday evening. While three girls were rescued, a 35-year-old female pimp has been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA).
Following a tip-off, a police team led by API Sachin Gavas established contact and struck a Rs 10,500 deal (Rs 3500 for each girl) through a decoy customer. Subsequently, a trap was laid near Veggies Hotel in Mira Road on Thursday.
While the rescued girls have been sent to the rehabilitation center in Kandivali, the accused, Hema Bokadia (35), was arrested and handed over to the Mira Road police for further investigations. She will be produced in Thane Sessions Court today.
