Mumbai : Rajesh Verma (23), a software engineer by profession who has been suffering from bodily complications and difficulties in walking from the past five years is now walking freely without any pain. Verma who was suffering from Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) was cured by cellular therapy at StemRx Bioscience Solutions Pvt Ltd, following which, he is now able to perform his daily chores and has resumed work.
Since Rajesh is the only earning member in the family, he was shocked when he learnt that he is suffering from FSHD. To add to the distress, Rajesh had lost his father due to the same condition a few years ago, resulting in a major emotional and financial setback for the family. FSHD is a common form of muscular dystrophy which affects mainly males and is caused by a faulty dystrophin gene.
Finally, on referral by his uncle, Rajesh decided to undergo cellular therapy at StemRx Bioscience Solutions Pvt, Ltd. “On the patient’s first visit, we suggested him to undergo complete clinical, hematological and radiological assessment. Based on the assessments, a treatment protocol was made which involved two-three sessions of stem cell therapy over a period of two-four months. The treatment plan was modified based on the patient’s assessments during the follow-up visits,” explained Dr Pradeep Mahajan of StemRx Hospital.
Within the first week of cellular therapy, Verma showed improvement in range of movement and reduction in weakness. “I can now lift objects more comfortably which shows an improvement in the strengthening of my body muscles. All the earlier symptoms of lower back and knee pain and facial heaviness have disappeared,” said Verma.
