Mumbai : ‘Due to a major burst in the Tansa water pipeline near Padwal Nagar in Thane, the city will witness 20 per cent water cut on Sunday. Sources in the BMC have confirmed that the repairs will be done by Sunday evening and water supply will most probably be restored by Monday morning.
Tansa is one of the major pipelines which supplies water to the city from Tansa lake. On Saturday afternoon, it ruptured in Thane which led to the BMC taking immediate steps to prevent wastage of water. Repair work was started on Saturday but lack of time meant that the work was not completed until Saturday night. Therefore, repair work will go on till Sunday which is going to cause this water cut in the island city as well as suburbs.
“The cause of the burst is still unknown. But we are trying our best to repair the pipeline by Sunday. Hopefully things will be back on track on Monday,” said BMC’s chief hydraulic engineer Ramesh Bambale.
