BHAYANDAR: A picnic turned into a tragedy for a group of seven people from the Silver Park area of Mira Road, when two of them drowned in the Chena Creek along the Ghodbunder Road near Kashimira on Tuesday evening. The group members who had planned a one-day picnic at Chena Creek, apparently ventured into the waters for a swim. Two of them identified as Amir Tayab Ali Chauhan (23) and Panjum Ghulam Kazi (24) were swept away by the swirling waters at about 5 pm. “The bodies have been recovered and a case of accidental death has been registered in this connection.” confirmed Police Inspector (crime), Purbe. Even as venturing into the creek waters is dangerous all year round, the water-level remains high during the monsoon, said a police official. (Suresh Golani)
