Bhayandar : In a joint operation, the Nallasopara police along with their counterparts from the Anti-Human Trafficking unit of the Thane (rural) police led by API Atul Aher rescued two minor Bangladeshi girls from the clutches of human traffickers. 

Following a tip-off, the police team established contact and struck a deal with a pimp identified as Mohd. Akhtar Iraqi (27), through a decoy customer and laid a trap near the Nallasopara bus stand late on Monday evening. “Iraqi who struck a deal after the decoy agreed to pay Rs 4,000 for two girls, was caught red-handed when he came with the minor girls.” Aher said. Investigations revealed that the girls had been trafficked to India for sexual exploitation by a Bangladeshi gang. The girls were first kept at a tenement in Dahisar and were later sold off to Iraqi who pushed them into prostitution. “A manhunt has been launched to nab other agents and pimps. A resident of Nallasopara, Iraqi has been arrested and booked under sections 370,372, 373 and 366 A of the IPC and under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA). The rescued girls have been will be sent to a rehabilitation center.
