Thane: Two separate incidents of people being electrocuted to death happened in Thane district on Friday night. First incident took place in Thane A 46-year-old man was electrocuted to death after the branch of a tree which hit an electric cable fell on him. The incident took place near Hanuman temple in Kolbad area of Thane at 12.45 am. Santosh Kadam officer of Regional Disaster Management Committee (RDMC) said, "We received the information about the branch of a tree falling down on MSEDC electric cable and one electrocuted near Shelar pada in Kolbad area in Thane. Thereafter one fire engine, one rescue vehicle and one ambulance rushed to the spot.
The deceased was identified as Nagesh Malppa Nirang, a resident of Robert Chawl in Thane's Rabodi area. Rabodi police booked an ADR (Accidental Death Report). R K Shaikh police sub inspector, Rabodi police station said, "He was trying to join the open electric wire with another electric wire after which, branch of a tree fell down on him". The body of the deceased was taken to the civil hospital after performing the Panchnama, and body was handed over to his family for the final rites.
Second incident happened at Shivaji chowk in Ambernath East A 22-year-old rickshaw driver was electrocuted to death after an electric pole and tree fell on an auto where he was standing. Vijay Satpute, police sub inspector said," The cause of death is head injury and electric shock". The incident happened on Friday at around 10.30 am when he was standing beside his auto rickshaw. He was then sent to the Central Hospital in Ulhasnagar. After panchnama, his body was handed over to his family member for the final rites.
