Mumbai : A 12-year-old girl from Thane, who got pregnant after being allegedly raped by her stepfather, delivered a baby boy at JJ Hospital on Monday.
The accused, who was arrested in July, subsequently died due to some disease, police said. “The newborn would be handed over to an orphanage for which the girl’s family members have given consent,” said obstetrician Rekha Davar, who is Head of Department of Gynaecology at JJ Hospital.
The minor’s pregnancy was discovered she was more than seven months pregnant,” said a physician.
