Mumbai: Cyber police arrested 10 people — Two main accused and eight employees of a Delhi-based call centre who duped several job aspirants of lakhs of rupees by giving them fake assurances of job placements. The accused had contacted job aspirants through an online portal, where they charged them Rs 3,400 for registration and Rs 17,000 for guaranteed job placements.
However, after paying the full amount, when the promises were not delivered, one of the victims approached cyber police and registered a complaint against the accused persons. While the two main accused were arrested on March 8, the eight employees were arrested on Tuesday. The 10 accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act.
