Ujjain: An awareness drive for school students was conducted under the aegis of Government Madhav Nagar School of Excellence to mark the World Earth Day week.
Under the initiative scores of programmes intended to augment the awareness level of students were organised with great fanfare and gusto. It included cleanliness in school premises, protection of plants and saplings and water conservation among other issues.
Later on an oath was also administered to all the students, teachers and staff members regarding watering the newly-planted saplings near the bank of Kshipra river as well as reviving it by next Simhastha Fair. Programme was carried out under the guidance of principal Bharat Vyas and conducted under the chairmanship of school’s veteran teacher KK Thomas.
The dais was studded with galaxy of distinguished personalities which included renowned environmentalists Rajiv Pahwa, Amitabh Sudhanshu and Ujjain Wale Group’s member Piyush Chouhan for leading the extra- ordinary environment campaign around the banks of Kshipra.
The guests were also recognised and felicitated for their exemplary environment work by the school management. School’s Eco Club incharge Shashank Shukla and district trainer Brajesh Sharma co-ordinated the programme while Rajesh Gandhara presided over the proceedings. On this occasion, students who had done distinctive environment protection and Kshipra conservation work were also felicitated and honoured by the guests.
