Demanding the State government to initiate steps to declare Ujjain as ‘Holy City, a spiritual leader has announced that he would visit the city soon to formulate his next course of action. “Holiness means purity of character, action and mind in every aspect. The purity of thoughts brings cleanliness along with holiness and purity of a place lies not in the history of the place but work done on that place.
Urja Guru Arihant Rishi said: “According to Hindu scriptures, there are five ways to attain moksha and staying at a pilgrimage place and taking dips in holy rivers is one of them. He requested Chief Minister Kamal Nath to give the Mahakal city the status of ‘Holy City’ as soon as possible. He said that it is a question of faith of the devotees. Arihant Rishi also pointed out that if the state government did not pay attention to his appeal then he would start a movement in this regard soon. The Urja Guru will reach here on April 10.
There are places where one can get blessings only by staying at those places. There are at least seven such cities in the country which are considered as holy places and Ujjaiyani is one of them. The Urja Guru also said that Bhagwan Mahavira had meditated here in Ujjain. It is the place where Lord Krishna received His early education. Besides, the city is ruled by none other than Lord Mahakala. The need of hour is to keep this holy place pure. Urja Guru Arihant Rishi also said that Ujjain has been called navel of the earth.
Lord Mahakal, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, is present in this holy city. Harshidhi Shaktipeeth is situated here. This is the place where Harishchandra asked his wife to pay the tax for cremation of his son. Ujjain is also called Dev bhoomi. This city was once capital of Sahastrarjuna and Holy River Kshipra flows in the middle of this city. The city organises Mahakumbh on the bank of Kshipra. Ujjain is such a pilgrimage place where blessings can be obtained only by stepping on this holy land.
Urja Guru further said that according to religious belief, Ujjain is a pilgrimage city but we want it to be the ideal holy city of India. He added: “We are appealing to the Madhya Pradesh government to declare Ujjain as Holy City and maintain its sanctity and take special care of cleanliness here. Ujjain should be identified as a religious city, where meat eating and alcohol consumption should be banned.
