Ujjain: The civic authorities are taking all steps for smooth Somwati Amavasya dip by the pilgrims who are expected to arrive in large numbers on Monday. Mayor Meena Jonwal on Thursday inspected arrangements at Somteerth Kund with incharge commissioner Manoj Pathak.
The officials concerned were instructed to maintain cleanliness and install showers near the Kund area. The mayor also inspected Ramghat and instructed the officials to ensure clean water on the day of the festival for taking holy dips by the pilgrims. Mayor in council members Kalawati Yadav, Mangilal Kadel, superintending engineer Dharmendra Verma, health minister BS Mehte, zonal officer DS Parihar and sub engineer Atul Tiwari were also present on the occasion.
Encroachments removed from Rajeevratn Colony
The UMC gang on Thursday removed encroachments from Rajeevratn Colony. They demolished five houses and 12 shanties from the government land under guidance of sub engineer Anushita Jain.
DCC Ujjain bt Union Club in football match
UMC on Thursday organised captain Jayendrasingh Memorial state level final match of football under Atal Khel Mela event. The match was played between Union Club and DCC Ujjain in which DCC defeated Union Club by 2-0.The programme was presided over by mayor Meena Jonwal in which MLA Mohan Yadav, civic body president Sonu Gehlot, Anil Phiroziya, Satyanarayan Chouhan and Radhshyam Verma were the special guests.
