Ujjain: Thieves made away with jewellery and cash from Tirupatidham Ashram on Barnagar Road late on Sunday night. Using the absence of main seers of the ashram, who had gone to Kumbh in Prayagraj, to their benefit, the thieves broke into the room of seer Shrikant Maharaj. The theft came to fore when ashram inmates found goods scattered in the room.
They later informed the Mahakal police. Shrikant Maharaj’s disciples told the cops that room’s lock was broken and valuable jewellery and cash were stolen. According to inmates, ashram has 45 rooms for two priests, five disciples and staff members. According to police CCTV cameras were not installed in the ashram hence identifying the thieves was tedious task. The inmates said that seer Shrikant Maharaj had been informed and he was on his way back. The exact amount of valuables stolen would be ascertained by him.
