Ujjain: Shivnavratri festival will start in Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple from Sunday. Mornig Bhasmarti, abhishek and pujan will be performed in the temple and in the evening the new clothes will be offered to lord Shiva. According to shri Mahakaleshwar temple management committee (MTMC) member- devotees will not be allowed in the sanctum sanctorum.
The MTMC officials said that the festival will last for 10 days during which Shivlingam will be adorned in different looks every day. Priests told that all the religious rites will also be performed during Shivnavratri. The festival will start with the worship of Shri Koteshwar Mahadev.
Street vendors told to remove encroachments
Ujjain Municipal Corporation instructed not to continue business on roads during Shiv-navatri and Shivratri in view of heavy footfalls of devotees on the festival. Reacting to the announcement made by the civic body the small traders protested and handed over memorandum to the collector.
