Ujjain: Sale of flowers, gifts dips as caution reigns supreme on Valentine’s Day

Ujjain: Valentine’s Day is celebrated on February 14. On this day, lovers express love by giving red roses to each other. During this, local florists stocked in high range of red roses and other flowers, but due to opposition of Valentine Day by Hindu outfits comparatively less people visited shops to buy flowers on Thursday.

Anxious celebration

On the occasion of Valentine Day, police in plain clothes were deployed around various school-colleges in the city to ward of any untoward incident. Lady police and policemen also guarded parks and other places of city. No ruckus was reported till noon. Gifts and flower shops witnessed less rush than usual. Freeganj, Malipura, Gopal Mandir area’s flower shops registered less business.

Celebration with senior citizens organised

Giving a message of respect and honour for elders and treating them with love and care, Agarwal Women Organisation celebrated Valentine’s Day with senior citizens in the red code theme. According to Anuja Goyal, Love was shown to women by giving rose buds to senior citizen women. On this occasion Shashi Agarval, Saroj Agarwal, Hamlata Gupta, Ritu Agarwal, Tanuja Goyal, Geeta Mittal, Sudha Gupta, Usha Bajaj and Pushpa Bagaria were present.

Martyrs remembered, career guidance prog held

Lions Club Ujjaini celebrated paid tribute to Amar Shahid Bhagat Singh, Shahid sukhdev, Shahid Rajguru in a programme held in Delhi Public School and Saint DS Convent School. Along with this career guidance was also given to the students. Analyst Vaishnav and Rithika Vaishnav of the Vaishnav Spoken Classes and Career Guidance Institute provided tips on career and spoken English to the students.
