Ujjain: Rs 5 lakh unaccounted cash seized

Ujjain: During routine checking of vehicles after imposition of Moral Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections Rs 5 lakh unaccounted cash was recovered from a car on Thursday on Maksi Road, late night on Friday. Car driver Rahul Patawa, a resident of Indore, told police that he was a mine contractor and cash being carried is meant for payment.  Failing to produice any evidence to support his statement the cash was seized by the police. He has been told to produce the relevant documents. A police official said that carrying cash over Rs 50,000 is illegal due to imposition of poll code.
