Ujjain: Veteran Sanskrit scholar Dr Kedar Narayan (KN) Joshi was honoured for his contribution to the language during a function organised at Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi on the other day. Vice-president of India M Venkaiah Naidu presented him a cash amount of Rs 5 lakh and a citation.
Established in the year 1958, this Presidential Honour is given every year to scholars, who are 60-year-old and above, who have contributed exceptionally to Sanskrit, Pali and Prakrat languages. Ex-head of Vikram University’s School of Studies in Sanskrit, Dr Joshi was born on April 3, 1948 at Kannod (Dewas district) and worked as professor for 42 years.
