Ujjain: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) spokesman Yogendra Singh Parihar (Bhopal) found himself in a precarious position while briefing the media persons about the Jai Kisan Rin Mukti Yojana here on Thursday. As part of state-wide strategy of the PCC, Parihar was in the city to narrate the salient features of the schemes and also about its phase-wise implementation.

However, he got trapped in the volley of questions raised by the reporters over the financial provisions and implications of the scheme. Parihar said, our priority is farmers as Chief Minister Kamal Nath has already said that the government is closely tied with all kinds of banks.

Debt waiver is the first thing step. In the case of non-performing assets, the name of the bank remains on the books, but the bank itself exempts the loans, but does not do it for losses. Those accounts become write-off, and are not closed. These are given under their own scheme. In the cooperative credit societies, a loan scam of 3000 crores has been exposed, which was not in the name of farmers.

He claimed that the loans of farmers were waived-off on December 17 itself when the Chief Minister had signed the file. Can you name a single farmer who is being harassed for debt collection? Now what is left is the formalities between the government and the banks, the money we have to pay is to the banks.

The no dues certificates will be distributed from February 22 at tehsil level. The first phase will be dealt in the entire state in a fortnight, in which about 26 lakh small farmers will be benefitted, he added.

The PCC spokesman loan of Rs 40,000 crores is being waived. This is not the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government but the government of Kamal Nath who knows how to tackle the challenges. You will not be able to recognise Madhya Pradesh within a year because he will bring so much investment. This is a continuous process. You should thank Kamal Nath that he announced the loan waiver immediately after becoming the Chief Minister.

VINAYGA MADE DCC SPOKESMAN

Farmers’ leader Sanjay Aanjana Vinayga has been appointed as the District Congress Committee (DCC, rural) spokesman. DCC chief Kamal Patel has made his appointment on the recommendation of former MLA Dr Batuk Shankar Joshi. He had earlier worked as DCC general secretary.

‘Union govt hasn’t given any money for loan waivers’

Responding to a query, Parihar said that the budget will come in July. We have presented a supplementary budget in current session of the Assembly. The Union government has not given any money for the loan waiver scheme. Ujjain district accounts for 2.06 lakh loans, though 1.94 applications of loan waiving received and the equal number of farmers will be its beneficiary. Still identification of beneficiaries was on, but exact numbers and amount of incurred money cannot be divulged at this juncture, he pleaded.
