Ujjain: Officials take stock of arrangements for Somvati Amavasya festival

Ujjain: The festival of Somvati Amavsya is inching closer on which thousands of pilgrims are expected to arrive in the city to take holy dips in the river Kshipra. The festival will fall on Monday. Ahead of Somvati Amavsya festival, divisional commissioner Ajeet Kumar and the IG Rakesh Gupta along with other officials on Saturday visited the Somteerth Kund, Ramghat and Triveni Ghat of the Kshipra river.

Thousands of pilgrims are expected to arrive in the city to take holy dip in Kshipra. The commissioner instructed the officials concerned to supply clean water for the holy dip and install CCTV cameras and LED screens in the ghats. He also directed the officials concerned to keep all the ghats clean and maintain cleanliness at changing rooms located there. SP Sachin Atulkar, municipal commissioner Pratibha Pal, ADM GS Dabar, ADM Verma and other senior officials were present with the divisional commissioner.
