Ujjain: Now, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana for every poor: Mathur


Ujjain: The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) which was limited to certain categories of poor till now has been extended for every family living under the poverty line. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) MP general manager (LPG) Sanjeev Mathur said here on Thursday that the scheme aims to provide green smokeless cooking fuel to every poor family in the country. Though it was initially available for those who figured in SECC (socio economic caste census) 2011. In April this year it was extended for SCs, STs, Antyoday card holders, PM Aawas Yojana (rural) beneficiaries and others.   
Mathur said deposit free LPG connection is provided to woman of the poor family under the scheme and an interest free loan is made available for cost of LPG stove and first refill which are recovered from subsidy to be credited to the customer. To avail the gas connection under the PMUY, the applicant has to give a 14 point undertaking besides ration card, Aadhaar card of all adult family members, bank account details and others. 
Due to the scheme the LPG penetration in the state which has crossed 74 per cent now as against 41 percent at the time of its launch, Mathur added. 
IOCL sales officer and nodal in-charge of PMUY Manish Kumar said 99, 000 connections have been released in Ujjain area under PMUY and drive to cover the remaining families is on. Caps are being arranged in villages to facilitate poor to fill KYC forms, he added.
