Ujjain: Mining Minister Pradeep Jaiswal offered prayers at Mahakaleshwar temple along with family members on Monday and prayed for the well-being of people of the state. Interacting with press persons, Jaiswal promised new mining policy and checking illegal mining activities flourishing across the state.
Responding to a query on illegal sand mining, Jaiswal said government would not spare sand mafias that have mushroomed in the last 15 years. Answering the question on Priyanka Gandhi, he said that Congress already had a long list of leaders like Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia, but BJP had only Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He claimed that the party would form government at the Centre in 2019.
Flourishing sand mining, failure of district administration
shipra Bachao Andolan’s activist Bakir Ali Rangwala filed petition in court for the incessant illegal sand mining going on in Kshipra river and allied areas by the sand mafias. He blamed the city administration for mining without any fear of state. Sand mafias have laid pipe line and made proper arrangement of boats for sand mining in Kshipra river.
They are extracting the sand with the help of pumps. Mafias have also made full arrangements of cleaning of sand on the banks of river. Rangwala also questioned the role of district administration as such organised cannot be possible under the nose of administration. He made allegation of collusive nexus of officers with sand mafias.
