Ujjain: Nav Samvat celebrated with fanfare across city

Hindu new calendar year Nav-samvat-2076 was welcomed with enthusiasm and fervour cross the city on Saturday.  Many programmes were organised on this occasion by social organisations. The Marathi community tied Gudi on their houses. The morning walkers and pedestrians were welcomed by applying tilak (vermilion) on their foreheads. Leaves of neem tree along with mishri were distributed as prasad. All the ancient temples of Goddess Durga were beautifully decorated.

Day begins at Ram Ghat


Navsmvatsar Abhinandan Samaroh Samiti and Anushthan Mandpam Jyotish Academy jointly organised a recitation of Shri Aditya Hridyastotram and offered ardhya to the Sun on the onset of Hindu New Year. Organising committee member Chandan Guru said that women worshipped Gudi and religious flag which were placed on the top of Mahakleshwar temple. On this occasion cultural programme were also organised by girls. On this occasion Swami Ranganathacharya, Prapnnacharya, Sheetalnath Maharaj Dr Bhagwatilal Rajpurohi, BJP national vice president Prabhat Jha, Dr Ulka Yadav, Surendra Charturvedi, MLA Mohan Yadav and other prominent personalities of the city were present. The programme was conducted by Pt Gourav Upadhyay and gratitude was expressed by Mohan Yadav.

Himadai Sankalp taken


Navsamvat Nav-vichar organisation inaugurated the 22nd Vikdromotsava by offering aradhya to the Sun god at Kshipra River and placing gudi on Gopal Mandir. The organisation head Dr Yogesh Sharma and Dr Dinesh Jain informed that at 6.27 am in the presence of ex-minister Babulal Malviya and district Congress head Mahesh Soni, Dr Sarvesh Sharma worshiped the flag and Pt Anandshankar Vyas made predictions for the New Year. Leader of opposition Rajendra Vashishtha, Ashok Sharma, Kailash Bisen and members of the committee attended the programme. The programme was conducted by Dinesh Jain while gratitude was expressed by Manish Sharma.

Huge dharm dhwaja unfurled


A religious procession was taken out from Harsiddhi Temple by devotees with drum beats. The devotees unfurled 81 feet tall and 51 feet long flag near the statue of king Vikramaditya located in Rudrasagar area. During the ceremonial function Computer Baba, Naveenand Saraswati and Devmorari Bapu were the special guests of the programme. Pt Anandshankar Vyas, Girish Sharma, Charanjeetsingh Kalara also were present during the procession. Spokesperson Phulchand Jariya informed that the procession started at 9am from the temple which was followed by felicitation programme of the prominent personalities of the city.

At Kamal Sarovar


Gayatri Shakti Peeth organised a programme at Kamal Sarovar located in Kalidas Academy premises. The members offered arghya to the Sun jointly and performed prayer for peace in the leadership of the head of peeth Devendrakumar Shrivastava. Shrivastava informed that The initiative society, Swarnim Bharat Mach, Geeta Swadhyay Mandal, Ujjain wale, Lions club Jagruti, Vivekanand Society, Brigu Brahmin community and members of Ujjain Yog Sangh also participated in the programme.

At VU
Vikram University staffers welcomed the nav samvat by worshipping statue of king Vikramaditya in the premises of the varsity. Spokesperson Shailendra Sharma informed that vice chancellor in-charge Prof HP Singh, registrar Dr DK Bagga, Dr Rakesh Dhandh, Dr Dharmendra Mehta, Dr Rajesh Tailor and other staff members and students were present during the programme.

Ayra Samaj celebrates Foundation Day
On the occasion of Gudipadava Ayra Samaj members celebrated the foundation day of the organisation. Addressing the programme Pt Rajendra Vyas informed that a Prabhat Feri (morning march) was organised by the members which ended with the flag hoisting at Arya Samaj Mandir. Deputy police superintendent Sandeep Ruhal, Jiwan Prakash Bhawasar, freedom fighter Amritji and other members were present on this occasion. Lalit Nagar informed that the programme was conducted by Sanjay Sony while Meenu Vyas delivered vote of thanks.

Traditional ger taken out


Shri Mahakaleshwar Bharthari Vikram Dwaj chal samaroh samiti took out a traditional ger (procession) of Gurjar Goud Brahmin community on the onset of Hindu nav-samvat on Saturday. On this occasion In-charge Minister Sajjan Singh Verma, MLAs Paras Jain, Mahesh Parmar and Murli Morwal, Karan Kumariya, Manoj Rajani and other public representatives were present. Organising committee head Pt Vinod Vyas informed that the gair was taken out through the entire principal roads of the city.

At Vikram Tekari


Hindu nav samvat was celebrated by Shri Avantika Mahakal Yuva Tirth Purohit Samiti, Ramghat at Vikram Tekari. The members worshipped the statue of king Vikramaditya and exchanged wishes. Organisation head Ajay Joshi informed that Pt Mahesh Pujari, Manish Maharaj, Kamlesh Maharaj, Raghunandan Pandit, and other members of the organisation were present on this occasion.

Dr Ram Arora feted
On the occasion of Gudipadava Shri Karparti Kalyan Ashram felicitated Dr Ram Arora with Samrat Vikramaditya Navratn award for his selfless contribution in Ayurveda.

Procession taken out on Vaisya Diwas
Vaisya community celebrated Gudipadava as Vaisya diwas on Saturday. The community members worshipped their patron Goddess Lakshmi. A religious procession was also taken out by the community members from Kshirsagar located Manas Bhawan. Programme convener Kuldeep Dharia informed that three girls were impersonated as Goddess Lakshmi, Saraswati and Durga during the procession.

Sindhi community celebrates Cheti-Chand
Sindhi community celebrated its principal festival Cheti Chand on Saturday. Sindhu Seva Samiti president Mahesh Sitlani informed that three tableaux propagating the message of patriotism were taken out after a gap of five years. The procession started from Sindhi Colony and after traversing through Teen Batti Chouraha, Tower Chowk, Chamunda Mata Chouraha, Dewasgate Chouraha, Daulatganj Chouraha, Nai Sadak and Kanthal concluded at Ram Ghat where a massive feast was organised. The male members donned military uniform as a mark of respect to the martyrs of Pulwama attack. Women members were dressed-up in white attire.

Gudi padwa celebrated with lighting of 2076 lamps
Pushpam Samajik Seva Samiti celebrated the onset of Vikram Samvat-2076 with the 2076 numbers of lamps which were decorated at statue of King Vikramdiya located and Vikram Tila locatd at Rudrasagar area. Organiser Ganesh Guru told that on this occasion fire crackers were also set-off.

Verma worships at Vikramaditya’s Mandir
State PWD Minister and District In-charge Sajjan Singh Verma performed pujan-aarti at ancient Veer Vikramaditya’s Mandir located behind the Harsiddhi Mandir on account of beginning of Navsamvatsar. Temple priest Akhilesh Joshi informed that the King Vikramaditya established his rule across India after he defeated the Shakas on this auspicious day.
