Ujjain: National inter-school 64th baseball competition was inaugurated on Monday at Mahananda Nagar Sports Arena. The competition is being organised under the aegis of School Games Federation of India and MP school education department, which will last till Friday.
Mayor Meena Jonwal was the chief guest of the programme while former minister of Assam Akon Bora presided over the programme. Leader of opposition at civic body Rajendra Vashishta, deputy director public education SK Parsai, SGFI observer Suresh Sharma, field official Mahesh Saini, weight lifter Rubika Diwan were the special guests of the programme.
The competition was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by the guests. The guests were welcomed by joint director education Sanjay Goyal, assistant director (sports) RK Paliwal, principal Bharat Vyas, district sports officer Arvind Joshi, ADPC Girish Tiwari and Sunil Pitre. The welcome speech was delivered by Sanjay Goyal. Mayor Meena Jonwal addressed the audience and underlined the importance of sports in life.
Publicity committee members Amitoj Bhargava, Sanjay Lalwani and Rajesh Gandhara informed that participants took out a march past and saluted the guests. The guests unfurled the flag and inaugurated the tournament. According to Bhargava over 500 participants will take part in the tournament. The inauguration programme started with exhibition of Malkhambh and folk dance. The programme was conducted by Jyoti Jain while gratitude was expressed by Girish Tiwari.
