Ujjain: Cold winds from northern India has led to a dip in mercury level. With clouds doing a disappearing act and wind blowing at a speed of 8km/hr, the night temperature on Sunday was recorded at 6.2 degree Celsius. It was the lowest temperature in the last 15 days.
Denizens preferred to stay indoors to beat the cold. Those who had no option but to move out too were seen crowding at roadside bonfires. The Collector has declared holiday for children up to class VIIIth. Weatherman has warned about deterioration in weather condition in next couple of days with temperature dipping to 4 degree. The Met office attributed the change to advent of western disturbances in northern part of country and its relative impact on northern and central part of the country.
Schools closed today
Collector Shashank Mishra declared holiday for children from nursery to class 8th of both government and private schools of Ujjain district citing fall in temperature and biting cold wave. It will be the second consecutive day when schools would remain closed owing to severe winter.
